The KC Chamber’s Big 5 entrepreneurship initiative celebrates second annual 1Week KC June 25-30

In 2011, the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce launched the Big 5 goal of making Kansas City “America’s Most Entrepreneurial City,” and, since then, there’s been no looking back. The vision: to gain global recognition for Kansas City as a premier location for launching and expanding innovative, high-growth companies.
1Week KC 2013 fosters the mission of creating America’s most comprehensive and effective entrepreneurial ecosystem. A week filled with entrepreneurial empowerment, 1Week KC’s consolidation of the region’s large and grassroots events is intended to educate, inspire, encourage, and celebrate entrepreneurship in Kansas City’s quest to become “America’s most entrepreneurial city.”
1Week KC is June 25-30 and will include tech meetups, conferences, classrooms, idea exchanges, networking, speakers, parties, and more. Numerous area organizations, including the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, KC SourceLink, Silicon Prairie News, Sprint, UMB, and the KC Chamber, are fueling the movement through sponsorships and events.
“1Week KC will leverage Kansas City’s entrepreneurial resources as we build toward the Big 5 goal of becoming America’s most entrepreneurial city,” said Jim Heeter, president and chief executive officer of the KC Chamber. “This is a mechanism to sustain the drive to be America’s hotbed of entrepreneurial activity, which is a point of focus in the second year of this Big 5 initiative. 1Week KC convenes key players and showcases important assets and resources as we continue to grow strong local talent that sets a cutting-edge example for the world and makes KC thrive.”

This is a great time to be an entrepreneur in KC, and we hope to show off some of our outstanding startups to the rest of the region and to the entire nation.”
