The Chamber
The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce is a membership organization that represents more than 2,500 companies and 300,000 employees across the Greater Kansas City region. We strive to make the Greater Kansas City region the best place to live, work, and grow a business.
The Chamber focuses on three key areas that benefit members: growing the region’s economy, advocating businesses’ interests in the public policy arena, and providing innovative programs and resources that help grow businesses. Our geographical representation spans 11 counties in the Greater Kansas City region. We serve the Missouri counties of Jackson, Clay, Platte, Ray, Cass, and Lafayette; and the Kansas counties of Johnson, Wyandotte, Leavenworth, Douglas, and Miami.
While all of the area’s largest employers are members of The Chamber, approximately 90 percent of Chamber members are defined as small businesses (250 employees or fewer).
We are not typical of most local chambers in the sense that we are not directly involved in either the economic development or convention/visitors functions. Those efforts are handled by two separate organizations: the
Kansas City Area Development Council and the
Convention & Visitors Association of Greater Kansas City.
