The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce’s Centurions Leadership Program is a two-year program focused on building community awareness through civic opportunities and on community issues that affect Greater Kansas City. The mission is to prepare a representative cross-section of the community’s emerging leaders for their role in shaping the future of Greater Kansas City. Calling all first-years to attend the Orientation Breakfast on Wednesday, March 19 from 7:30 – 9:00 a.m. in the KC Chamber Board Room to recap everything you learned at one of our information sessions or networking socials. Meet with your fellow classmates and learn everything you need to know from second-year Steering Committee members and Chamber staff. Headshots will be taken, so come picture ready!
Join us for our Pinnacle 2025-2026 Kickoff Social on Wednesday, March 26, from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City. This will be the first opportunity for the Classes of 2026 and 2027 to meet and connect.
Retreat is April 9-11 at Lied Lodge. A more formal agenda with details to follow.
CENTURIONS ALUMNI LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP
Since 2021, the Centurions Alumni Association has awarded the Alumni Legacy Scholarship to a diverse professional entering their first-year as a Centurion who is working to create equity within diverse communities. This scholarship was founded with the intention of dismantling structural racism by providing a Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color access and opportunity in the business community and covers the full cost of tuition, Benchmarking Trip Fees, and the cost of a Basic Chamber Membership (if applicable) for the two-year duration of the program.
We need your support in sharing this opportunity with your networks. The Centurions Alumni Legacy Scholarship application and the full Centurions application are both due by 11:59 p.m., June 1, 2025. Applicants will be notified by Friday, June 6, 2025 regarding their Legacy Scholarship application status, as they will then move forward with the full Centurions selection process.

LEADERSHIP UP CLOSE: MENTAL HEALTH
Join us for a Leadership Up Close Session as a follow up to our February task force. We are pleased to welcome Kristin Gernon, Behavioral Health Program Manager for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City. Kristin will walk the us through a high-level overview on mental health first aid, tips and tricks to protect your own mental health and how to recognize and address mental health struggles in others. ALUMNI CAREER WORKSHOP WITH I.C. STARS
Centurions Alumni will partner with i.c. stars to connect with a diverse group of burgeoning tech. professionals to prepare them for the job application process they will undertake upon completing their i.c. stars internship. During this two-hour service project, volunteers will meet 1-1 and/or in small groups with i.c. stars interns to review their resumes and conduct mock interviews; the second portion of the program will be less structured and will provide a time for open Q&A with the larger group on all questions career related. Volunteers will be provided with a guide/rubric to allow for consistency and structure throughout the different interactions with i.c. stars interns. NOTE: While i.c. stars has a focus on careers in technology, Centurions alumni from all industries and backgrounds are encouraged to participate as the discussions will not be focused on tech.
