LENEXA, Kan. — Henderson Companies, the 100% employee-owned parent company of Henderson Engineers and Henderson Building Solutions, announces the promotion of two longtime leaders within the company’s community sector, which designs civic, culture, higher education, K-12 education, recreation, and science and technology projects nationwide. Doug Everhart is taking on the role of community sector operations director whereas Chris Greer is the firm’s new K-12 education practice director.

In his new role as sector operations director, Everhart will oversee operational strategies, financial performance, and personnel management for the community sector. A careerlong Henderson employee since 2001, his vast experience spans the spectrum of community sector project types – higher-ed, K-12, civic, culture, arts, corporate, and mixed-use projects – across various disciplines including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems design and project management. He most recently served as the company’s K-12 education practice director.

As Everhart’s successor, Greer will oversee strategies and initiatives related to client experience, technical quality, innovation, business development, and employee engagement for the K-12 education practice. His most recent role was community sector design and construction director, coordinating construction management and commissioning-related projects. His tenure at Henderson began in 2014 and has included successful runs as a project manager and lead mechanical engineer.

“Congratulations to Doug and Chris on their well-deserved promotions,” said Julie Pierce, Henderson’s community sector executive. “The projects we undertake within our sector are often the backbone of the communities where they’re located. Not only are Doug and Chris uniquely qualified from a technical standpoint, but they also bring a level of care and out-of-the-box thinking that is necessary to deliver impactful results for our clients and end users. We’re excited to see them continue to thrive and make a difference.”

Everhart holds an architectural engineering degree from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kan. Greer, who attended Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan., is also an architectural engineering graduate. Both are licensed professional engineers.

In other recent community sector news, Bryan Jimenez was appointed as Henderson’s higher education practice director in late 2022.
