Kansas City Regional COVID-19 Response & Recovery Fund announces $3.2 million in second round of grants

Grants continue to address urgent needs

Over $3.2 million in aid has been announced to 72 area nonprofits as part of the second round of grant funding from the Kansas City Regional COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund.

The Fund provides grants to nonprofit organizations that have experience supporting impacted communities—particularly those that are disproportionately affected by this public health crisis and its economic consequences. In just one month, nearly $17 million has been donated so far to the Fund with just under $6 million distributed through the first two rounds. OneKC Day of Giving, a one-day drive by dozens of Kansas City television and radio broadcasters, helped increase visibility of the Fund.

“By supporting critical organizations, we can ensure resources are going where needs are highest,” said Denise St. Omer, Vice President of Grantmaking and Inclusion Initiatives for the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. “This funding will help ensure nonprofits can continue serving their communities through housing support, food assistance, access to healthcare and other critical human services.”

“This effort demonstrates our community’s resiliency, the generosity of our neighbors and the strength of the region’s nonprofit organizations,” said Geoff Jolley, Executive Director of LISC Greater Kansas City. “We are all proud to be part of a region that does not hesitate to equitably support all its residents.”

Additional grants will be released on a rolling basis as fundraising continues and needs are identified throughout all phases of the crisis.
