Your Chamber at Work - October 26, 2020
FROM THE KC CHAMBER'S PRESIDENT AND CEO
Despite all that 2020 has wrought, Kansas City is “Unstoppable” – and that’s the theme of the Chamber’s upcoming Annual Dinner event November 24, and you’re invited.
The pandemic has forced us to rethink things – no 2000 person gathering at the Convention Center this year – so we’ve made some changes. We’ll be virtual (of course); we’ve changed the time from the evening hours to 3:00 to 5:00; and, for the first time, are allowing non-members to attend.
Our featured speakers are two unstoppable Kansas City talents – Heidi Gardner of Saturday Night Live, and Aaron Rahsaan Thomas, television producer and writer. We’ll announce the 2020 Kansas Citian of the Year, and will celebrate the people in our community who have shown leadership, service, conviction, compassion, and bravery this year. Networking will be a big part of the event, as usual, thanks to a great virtual networking platform.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, is the single ticket deadline for the early bird price of $20. (It goes up to $35 thereafter.) If you’re interested in sponsorship, please contact the Chamber’s Laura Dryden. We also have an Annual Dinner website for more information about the event and to register: www.unstoppablekc.com.
We hope to see you there!
KANSAS AND MISSOURI 2021 STATE AGENDA LISTENING SESSION
Chamber members are invited to join the Kansas and Missouri 2021 State Agenda Listening Session, October 27, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. This is the final opportunity for members to share their voice on the 2021 KC Chamber Kansas and Missouri Legislative Agendas. This is for members only. Register here to give your expertise, input, and guidance before the agendas are sent to the Board for final approval.
COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE
Register now to donate blood at the Community Blood Center’s mobile blood drive, Tuesday October 27 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tomorrow is the final day of the two-day drive. The mobile team will be in Union Station’s Triangle Parking lot. Appointments are required and walk-ins will not be accepted. The need for blood has rebounded to pre-COVID-19 levels, but the blood supply is dangerously low. The Chamber is proud to partner with Union Station, Centurions, and the Community Blood Center for this opportunity.
CANCER PREVENTION DURING A PANDEMIC
Join Healthy KC and The American Cancer Society for a discussion around Cancer Prevention During a Pandemic - Improving Health Behaviors, November 10, 1:30 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. Employers will learn about the recently changed guidelines and how COVID-19 has affected screening rates. The presentation will cover important timely topics such as understanding the American Cancer Society screening guidelines, the effect of COVID-19 on cancer screening and prevention rates, and how to provide guidance to employees on appointments and follow-up. Register now for this free event. Special thanks to Thanks to our Presenting Sponsor Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, and our Premier Sponsors REACH Healthcare Foundation and Lockton Companies.
