Happy February from WTC-KC! We started the year strong by launching a new event series, “Talking Trade: Coffee & Networking.” For this inaugural event, we partnered with the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce and Shook, Hardy, & Bacon, L.L.P., to bring together a group of businesses and service providers. Our attendees shared successes and challenges in doing international business and shared tricks of the trade. Thank you to everyone who joined us at the event.

Erin Eskie Merrill grew up on construction sites. “I basically have been in a hard hat and on job sites as long as I can remember, and probably before.” Her father started Eskie & Associates in 1969, and Merrill would often spend time with him at some of the jobs. That love of construction stayed with her, and now she’s co-owner at Eskie and managing partner.

(Kansas City, Mo.) – The Kansas City Public Library has purchased the former Rent-A-Center space at 3020 Prospect Avenue near its Lucile H. Bluford Branch, with an eye to greatly expanding the services and resources it offers the East Side community.
