The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce (KC Chamber) applauds Congress for its bipartisan and bicameral work to pass another desperately needed COVID-19 relief and stimulus bill. Last night, Congress approved of $900 billion in COVID relief, which was combined with the $1.4 trillion Omnibus that will fund the Federal Government through September 2021. FROM THE KC CHAMBER'S PRESIDENT AND CEO Having a marketable skill opens the door to a job, but too many ex-offenders leave prison without one. Anywhere from 60 to 75 percent of returning citizens remain unemployed one year after release from prison. But for those ex-offenders who hold a job for one year, the recidivism rate is 16 percent, compared to a national recidivism rate of 52 percent. Read Article

Second Round of Calls for Artists Now Open for Public Art in New Terminal and Garage at Kansas City International Airport

Work is well underway on the $1.5 billion New Terminal and parking garage at Kansas City International Airport. Slated to open in early 2023, the Build KCI project will replace the aging three-terminal complex with a single, modern terminal and 6,000-plus space garage that will improve the traveling experience for residents and visitors. Public art will be a significant part of this experience.
