The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce (KC Chamber) applauds Congress for its bipartisan and bicameral work to pass another desperately needed COVID-19 relief and stimulus bill. Having a marketable skill opens the door to a job, but too many ex-offenders leave prison without one. Anywhere from 60 to 75 percent of returning citizens remain unemployed one year after release from prison. But for those ex-offenders who hold a job for one year, the recidivism rate is 16 percent, compared to a national recidivism rate of 52 percent.

Work is well underway on the $1.5 billion New Terminal and parking garage at Kansas City International Airport. Slated to open in early 2023, the Build KCI project will replace the aging three-terminal complex with a single, modern terminal and 6,000-plus space garage that will improve the traveling experience for residents and visitors. Public art will be a significant part of this experience.
