FROM THE KC CHAMBER'S PRESIDENT AND CEO Something else to worry about: the COVID-19 pandemic is spurring spikes in anxiety and depression across the nation. Mental health experts worry about potential increases in depression, PTSD, substance abuse, domestic violence, and a broad range of other issues. From June 2019 to May 2020, symptoms of anxiety disorder rose from 8.2 percent to 28.2 percent of U.S. adults, while symptoms of depressive disorder rose from 6.6 percent to 24.4. percent. New officer and Board member terms begin November 1 every year. But this year, the Board approved extending the terms of Chamber officers for another year. City of Independence launches free saliva-based COVID-19 Testing

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. –  The City of Independence will begin free, saliva-based COVID-19 testing on Wednesday, Oct. 28. The City is using CARES Act Funding to support regional testing efforts with 1,000 tests available each week. Testing locations have been placed throughout the City to allow easy access with times and days of the week to make them as accessible as possible. The tests are estimated to take approximately 10 to 20 minutes and results are available in 24-48 hours. Read Article
