Congressional offices have contacted the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce to request updated information on what KC regional health care providers are encountering relative to COVID-19. Following is the Chamber’s request for financial relief for the health care industry and a bullet point summary of the information we have gathered from many area providers who voluntarily replied to our request for information. KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas – in consultation with Health Department Director Dr. Rex Archer and Emergency Medical Services Medical Director Dr. Erica Carney – today issued a “Stay at Home” Order, requiring Kansas Citians to stay at home except for “essential activities” as our community continues working to slow the spread of COVID-19. Grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations, and healthcare facilities will remain open. This order will take effect at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, March 24.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – (March 19, 2020) – Dr. Andrew (Andy) W. Bowne (pronounced like “town”) will be JCCC’s new President starting July 1, 2020. Dr. Bowne will succeed Dr. Joe M. Sopcich, who has served in this position since June 2013 and has been employed by the College since 1992. Dr. Bowne was unanimously approved by the JCCC Board of Trustees in the board’s regular meeting on March 19.
Board Chair Greg Musil shared the Board’s anticipation of welcoming Dr. Bowne to the campus and the community.
