KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Locals and tourists alike will soon be a short streetcar ride away from throwing axes in the heart of downtown Kansas City. The city’s original axe throwing experience, Blade & Timber, will officially open its flagship location in the Power & Light District on Friday, August 30.

Blade & Timber’s new location (1303 Baltimore Ave.) will offer 11 axe throwing lanes, a beer and wine menu, full kitchen, darts and yard games. The menu features fried chicken, waffles, sauces made from scratch and more, created by James Beard Award Semifinalist Taylor Petrehn. The full-service experience includes restaurant seating, open-air patio space and private party room for larger events.

“We are excited to continue growing our brand nationally, while staying true to our Kansas City roots. The Power & Light District allows us to be in the middle of Kansas City’s premier entertainment and tourism arena,” said Blade & Timber Co-Founder Ryan Henrich.

Grand opening weekend at Blade & Timber will begin with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, August 30 at 8:30 a.m. with the first 75 guests receiving a free gift. Throughout the weekend, guests could win free waffles for one year when they post their best bullseye on Instagram. Blade & Timber will also give away free merchandise, waffles and more all weekend long.

Blade & Timber promotes teaching anyone ages 10 and up how to master the bullseye, with each guest receiving a one-on-one lesson by a Blade & Timber safety-certified axe coach. Coaches are present throughout the 1.5-hour axe throwing experience, teaching trick shots, new axe throwing games and maintaining safety at all times.

Blade & Timber first opened in the historic West Bottoms as Kansas City’s first and only axe throwing experience in 2017. The homegrown brand has since opened six locations across the nation and will move its West Bottoms location to Power & Light.

“We work each day to bring friends, families and coworkers together for an unforgettable experience,” said Co-Founder Matt Baysinger. “This new location is a huge step in creating a full-service experience for the downtown and surrounding communities.”
