Managing Partner Mark Hinderks Receives Top Alumni Award from KU Law
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (April 22, 2020)—Stinson LLP Managing Partner Mark Hinderks received the Distinguished Alumni Award, for his dedication and service to legal justice and the legal profession. This is the highest honor bestowed by the University of Kansas School of Law.
Hinderks is co-founder of Ethics for Good, a unique professional responsibility program for attorneys which has raised more than $750,000 for charities such as Safehome, Hope House, Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault, and the Midwest Foster Care and Adoption Association. Proceeds also fund scholarships to law and paralegal students at various local institutions including the University of Kansas. The program has been running for more than 20 years, drawing around 600 attorneys annually.
He is also recognized for his successful strategic focuses on diversity and inclusion and best practice governance principles as Stinson’s managing partner.
“Mark has been an invaluable ally and advocate in the firm’s ever-growing diversity and inclusion efforts, not only assisting Stinson’s D&I staff, but ensuring its growth and reach across the firm,” said Ann Jenrette-Thomas, chief diversity and inclusion officer. “Stinson’s commitment to being a leader in creating a diverse and inclusive legal profession starts with Mark, with his support we have been able to achieve retention rate of 88% among diverse attorneys.”
In addition to serving as the firm's managing partner, Hinderks is a member of the executive committee and board of directors. He has led or co-led the firm since 2010, successfully steering the firm and its constituents through a period of strategic growth, including three mergers.

Before becoming Stinson's managing partner, Hinderks served as the firm's deputy managing partner, its general counsel and one of its leading trial lawyers, handling large matters for key clients across the U.S. In recognition of his trial experience and success, he was inducted as a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
