KANSAS CITY, Mo.  – April 22, 2021 – Spectrum will join leaders from the Urban League of Greater Kansas City at a virtual career fair on Friday, April 23, at 9 a.m. to discuss how a recent $20,000 Spectrum Digital Education Grant will help promote digital literacy and assist community members with career training and development.

Over the last four years, Spectrum has provided nearly $100,000 in grants to the Urban League of Greater Kansas City, helping further their mission to promote economic empowerment, equal opportunity, equity and social justice. In 2018, funding was used to create a Digital Spectrum Academy that provides classes so individuals can learn important skills to impact their lives and those around them. Since the program’s inception, more than 825 individuals have completed classes.

“Thanks to Spectrum’s Digital Education Grant Program, our Digital Spectrum Academy provides hundreds of participants with skills, resources and the technology needed to succeed in this virtual world we are in,” said Gwendolyn Grant, President and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Kansas City. “With Spectrum’s ongoing investment in our efforts to bridge the digital divide, we can expand our focus on improving the lives of people in our community.”

Spectrum has surpassed its multi-year commitment to award $6 million in cash and in-kind donations to support broadband education across the company’s 41-state service area. Spectrum Digital Education is one of several philanthropic programs developed by Charter to support the communities in which Charter provides service and where its employees both live and work. Since its inception in 2017, Spectrum Digital Education has benefitted more than 56,000 individuals in 17 states and Washington, D.C.
