KANSAS CITY, MO—Continuing a long tradition of giving back to its surrounding community, organizers of KC’s premier dining event announced today that Guadalupe Centers will serve as the featured beneficiary for the 2022 Kansas City Restaurant Week. A portion of all proceeds for the 13th annual event, slated for Jan. 14-23, 2022, will go towards supporting Guadalupe Centers’ work across the region, as well as the foundations of Visit KC and the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association (GKCRA).

As the largest Hispanic organization in Kansas City since 1919, Guadalupe Centers serves more than 12,000 men, women and children each year through its various programs and has continuously evolved to meet the needs of families in crisis and those striving to contribute to the metro area’s success.

“All of us at Guadalupe Centers are thrilled to be the community beneficiary of 2022 Kansas City Restaurant Week, especially after a year of increased need,” said Director of Fund Development and Marketing Alyx Bartrom. “This donation will allow us the opportunity to better support our catering services—a critical program providing healthy, nutritious meals and food to vulnerable individuals and families in the KC metro area, including homebound seniors and students within the Guadalupe Charter Schools.”

Participating restaurants donate 10 percent of Restaurant Week menu sales each year. Through the generosity of Kansas City restaurants and their diners, more than $3 million has been raised for local causes in KCRW’s 12-year history.

Returning as the presenting sponsor for a fifth-consecutive year in 2022, Sysco is a global company that sells, markets and distributes food products, equipment and supplies to restaurant, healthcare and educational facilities, as well as lodging establishments and other customers who prepare meals away from home. The company operates approximately 300 global distribution facilities, serving approximately 500,000 customer locations. Sysco’s Kansas City operating company is based in Olathe, KS.

Restaurant registration for the 2022 event is underway and runs through Nov. 30. Interested businesses can learn more at KCRestaurantWeek.com/register.

About Guadalupe Centers

As the largest Hispanic organization in the Kansas City region and the 18th-largest not-for-profit in the area, Guadalupe Centers has gained national recognition as the “Longest Continuously Operating Organization Serving Latinos in the United States.” Guadalupe Centers serves a population disproportionately impacted by COVID-19: multi-generational, predominantly low-income and LatinX. Clients include employees in the service/hospitality industry, seasonal workers, minimum-wage earners and workers unable to work from home, prime candidates for infection and transmission. Many households include multiple generations. Economically, Guadalupe Centers families are among the hardest hit with unemployment rates soaring, the eviction moratorium expiring, and an overtaxed support services system depleted.
