United Way of Greater Kansas City Names New Chief Philanthropy Officer

Local equity advocate Jessica Blubaugh to lead development at UWGKC

(KANSAS CITY, MO – March 7, 2022) –United Way of Greater Kansas City (UWGKC) announced today the hiring of Jessica Blubaugh as its Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO). UWGKC is a gravitational force for good that brings people and resources together to tackle the most pressing and persistent challenges facing our community today and beyond.

In her new role as CPO, Blubaugh will lead the organization’s overall fundraising and revenue strategies including United Way’s metro-wide annual campaign, manage strategic corporate partnerships, and lead the development team. She will also serve on United Way of Greater Kansas City’s Executive Team. Blubaugh is leaving her role as the Director of WIN for KC at the Kansas City Sports Commission and Foundation.

Blubaugh has spent almost 20 years in the nonprofit sector, specifically in development, events and marketing. In her current role, she oversees the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of WIN for KC (Women’s Intersport Network). WIN offers a variety of events and programs throughout the year, as well as supports the efforts of the KC Sports Commission on a broad level on events such as the Big 12 Basketball Championships, the Kansas City Marathon and the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Parade and Celebration. She returned to the Kansas City Sports Commission in September of 2018 as the Director of WIN for KC, having started her career with WIN in 2003. Prior to WIN for KC, she led multi-million dollar fundraisers and various community events at the Women’s Sports Foundation in New York and Atlanta; led the national Events Marketing Team at Teach For America; and served as Director of Partnerships and Events at Visit KC.

Blubaugh will assume her role as UWGKC CPO in late March and looks forward to joining the team. “United Way of Greater Kansas City does important, critical work on behalf of Kansas City and I’m thrilled to join its team of talented, passionate individuals,” says Jessica Blubaugh. “In this role, I look forward to leveraging my years of experience leading teams, managing partnerships and supporting worthy causes.
