U.S. News & World Report Recognizes Health System’s Consistency and Longevity in Best Hospital Rankings and Ratings

(North Kansas City, Mo. July 17, 2024) - North Kansas City Hospital and Meritas Health achieved High Performing ratings for seven types of care in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals 2024-2025 rankings and ratings. This recognition rewards the health system’s performance in complex care in medical specialties and in common procedures and conditions.

Many NKCH and MH programs and treatments have earned High Performing rankings for several consecutive years.

  • Heart failure (eight consecutive years)
  • Knee replacement (seven consecutive years)
  • Colon cancer surgery (six consecutive years)
  • Heart attack (four consecutive years)
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (three consecutive years)

The following procedure and condition moved from average to High Performing.

  • Hip replacement
  • Kidney failure

The annual rankings and ratings are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive quality care for challenging health conditions or elective procedures.

U.S. News and World Report evaluated each hospital’s performance using a variety of measures, such as survival rates, complication rates, patient experience and level of nursing care. The Best Hospitals methodology factors in data from the American Hospital Association, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, professional organizations and medical specialists. U.S. News assessed nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide.
