Kansas City PBS to Livestream Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Missouri Celebration

Kansas City, MO - Aug. 20, 2024—Kansas City PBS is proud to partner with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to livestream a special event featuring country music icon Dolly Parton and her Imagination Library. The event will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m. in Kansas City. It will celebrate the success of the Imagination Library of Missouri, encouraging more families to participate in the free book-gifting program. “Kansas City PBS is honored to partner with DESE to bring this special event to households across the region,” said Kliff Kuehl, president and CEO of Kansas City PBS. “Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Missouri has already had a tremendous impact on the state, and we are excited to help extend its reach even further.”

The celebration will bring together Imagination Library of Missouri’s local program partners, early childhood education stakeholders and other special guests, including Gov. Mike Parson and Dolly Parton. By partnering with DESE to livestream the event, Kansas City PBS can ensure that all Missourians can join the celebration.

Thanks to the Imagination Library and the work of nearly 60 Missouri affiliates, more than 17,000 Missouri children under five years old will receive free books every month.
