The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and the Civic Council of Greater Kansas City jointly express their support for the renewal of Kansas City, Missouri’s Public Safety Sales Tax, scheduled for voter consideration on April 8, 2025.
A safe and secure environment is fundamental to the economic health and quality of life in our community. The renewal of this sales tax is not an introduction of a new tax but a continuation of an existing commitment to public safety. The funds generated have been instrumental in supporting essential services that protect our community, our workforce, and our businesses.
The revenue from this tax is earmarked for critical initiatives, including:
- Construction of a New Municipal Rehabilitation and Detention Center: Addressing current facility limitations with a thoughtfully planned, right-sized solution to enhance public safety and rehabilitation efforts.
- Support for Law Enforcement and Emergency Medical Services: Ensuring our first responders have the necessary resources to effectively serve our community.
These strategic investments are designed to bolster our city’s safety infrastructure, directly contributing to a more secure environment for all.
We urge all Kansas City residents to participate in the upcoming election and vote in favor of renewing the Public Safety Sales Tax. Your affirmative vote is a direct investment in the safety and prosperity of our community.
