KCADC’s mission is to “Engage the world to invest in the OneKC region.”
Founded in 1964, the Civic Council helped, along with the KC Chamber, spur the creation of the Full Employment Council; funded the creation of the Area Life Sciences Institute (now BioNexus); initiated the Sasaki Plan, a study helping toward the revitalization of downtown Kansas City; and created PREP-KC, a nonprofit connecting high school students to engagement opportunities with business professionals and higher education faculty.
The KC Chamber partners with the Civic Council and others in the effort known as KC Rising, which is establishing a shared vision for regional prosperity.
There are issues that transcend state, city, and county lines – issues like transportation, childcare, education, the economy, and health. MARC is the nonprofit organization that brings together local officials to deal with those issues metro-wide.
