POWER of Diversity | Strengthening Resilience Workshop | Election Day April 8 | and more...

FROM THE KC CHAMBER’S PRESIDENT AND CEO

I’m pleased to announce that nominations and applications are officially open for the 2025 POWER of Diversity Awards — our region’s leading celebration of leadership that builds stronger workplaces and a more welcoming Kansas City.

Each year, this signature event recognizes individuals and organizations who are removing barriers, opening doors, and creating cultures where people feel valued, seen, and empowered to contribute. It’s a moment to lift up the stories of those committed to leading change. I invite you to be part of this year’s celebration by submitting a nomination or application for the following honors:

ACE Awards
By April 25, nominate a mid-to-senior level professional who is actively expanding access to opportunity within their workplace and community. These are the leaders challenging the status quo and championing new possibilities for others. (Note: ACE applications are provided directly to nominees once selected.)

Champion of Diversity Award
Open to both for-profit and nonprofit organizations, this award recognizes those building intentional, inclusive cultures through thoughtful hiring practices, community partnerships, and employee engagement. Apply today! Applications are due by May 16.

This program is more than recognition — it’s a call to action. By shining a light on those doing the work, we reinforce our shared commitment to a Kansas City where success is accessible to all. Thank you for being part of this powerful movement. We look forward to your nominations and to celebrating together at the POWER of Diversity event on Friday, July 25.

ELECTION DAY: INVESTING IN A STRONGER KANSAS CITY ON APRIL 8

Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 8, Kansas City, Missouri voters have the chance to shape a stronger, more vibrant region where all families, students, and businesses can thrive.

The KC Chamber proudly supports the Kansas City Public Schools bond measure — the first since 1967. With over $1 billion in deferred maintenance, this investment is long overdue. It will modernize facilities, improve safety, and expand college and career readiness. Strong schools power strong communities. Which is why we also back local school funding measures across the metro. Every student deserves access to quality education as education is the heartbeat of a dynamic region.

Additionally, KC BizPAC supports Tanesha Ford (At-Large) and Rita Cortes (Sub-district 1) for the KCPS Board of Directors. Their leadership is vital for advancing educational excellence in our community.

We support renewing Kansas City’s ¼-cent Public Safety Sales Tax — a no-tax-increase measure that funds first responders, emergency services, and a needed municipal detention facility. A safe city is a city that grows. And we stand with Ronald McDonald House Charities in their expansion of Longfellow House. Approving the purchase of city parkland means more families can stay close to their children during treatment and reflects Kansas City’s leadership in pediatric care and compassion.

Tomorrow let’s vote for a bright future in Greater Kansas City. See you at the polls!

KANSAS CITY NAMES WORLD CUP 2026 POSTER CONTEST WINNER

KC2026 revealed the winning design for the FIFA World Cup 26™ Kansas City Host City Poster during halftime at Children’s Mercy Park on April 5, celebrating the city’s creative spirit and soccer pride on a global stage. Selected from more than 100 local entries, the winning poster — “Woven Together” was created by local artist Jadie Arnett — reflects KC’s culture, community, and love for the game. The artist worked closely with a KC2026 arts mentor, KC Chamber Art Director Chandler Johnson, to highlight the region’s commitment to homegrown talent. All 16 Host City posters will be available at FIFAWorldCup.com following the final reveal.
