FROM THE KC CHAMBER'S PRESIDENT AND CEO After months of preparation, Kansas City made a great case for our selection as a host city for the 2026 World Cup. Officials from the FIFA Selection Committee heard a formal presentation, enjoyed a barbecue lunch, and toured local facilities (including Arrowhead) that would be put to use in 2026. Their visit ended with a game between the U.S. Women’s Team vs. Korea at Children’s Mercy Park. The game ended in a tie, but the FIFA officials were able to see firsthand the enthusiasm of KC soccer fans. Read Article

FROM THE KC CHAMBER'S PRESIDENT AND CEO At last report, the Kansas City metro area had more than 87,000 job openings and 52,000 people on the unemployed rolls (that doesn’t include those in the workforce who have given up job seeking). The math is not good. Too many of our Chamber member businesses tell us they’re scrambling to fill their job vacancies, that too many applicants lack the necessary skills, and many are hiring from outside the metro area or using temporary workers.
